I have a new morning mantra: It’s a new day.
This started several weeks ago, when I woke up, tired of having to figure out the newest COVID regulations and where I was allowed to go, if masks were necessary, and all those other daily questions we’ve been asking since March. At this point, I was pretty low – I love to travel, to plan fun gatherings of friends – and yet, planning seemed futile.
When my alarm went off that morning, I decided to start off with a positive attitude. It’s a new day. A day filled with possibilities. A day to explore, learn something new, improve in some way. It was a new day.
Who doesn’t love possibilities? Adventure? Planning something good for the future? And I could have those if I would just change my perspective a wee bit … instead of waking up and thinking that nothing changes and I do the same boring thing every day … I could wake up and dwell on the fact that I have a NEW day and good things could happen. It’s a new day.
Around that same time I was listening to a podcast and they shared Psalm 143:8.
Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way that I should go, for to You I entrust my life. Psalm 143:8
What an amazing thought … the God who created everything not only loves me (and you) but will remind us of that truth when we ask.
How do you start your day?
